We are excited to announce the brand-new PlastiCity pledge that businesses and schools in Southend are invited to join.

PlastiCity

The PlastiCity project is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Southend-on-Sea has been chosen as the only town in the UK to take part in project. The other partner regions are Belgium, France, and Netherlands.

PlastiCity is a project that aims to increase the amount of commercial and industrial plastics that are recycled from 20-30% to over 50%. This can be done through research and developing strategies and solutions to identify, collect and recycle more commercial and industrial plastics.

Southend-on-Sea has committed to reaching Net Zero by 2030 thus improving waste management practices will contribute to reducing our city’s carbon emissions.

PlastiCity Pledge

We are excited to announce the brand-new PlastiCity pledge that businesses and schools in Southend are invited to join.

It is not easy to find out the best ways for your organisation to recycle plastics and improve sustainability performance. So, the PlastiCity pledge is designed to easily and quickly guide your organisation to become more sustainable, fit for future regulation, and to reduce waste plastics on our streets and in our seas.

The pledge consists of a selection of initiatives that your organisation can participate in and measure progress towards your sustainability goals. Benefits include access to free circular economy training, case studies and helpful resources. Additionally, organisations will gain the opportunity to network in the recycling forum and share ideas with other local businesses and schools. Your organisation will also receive publicity from our social media sites to celebrate your participation in the pledge.

Together we can make a significant difference! To join in, you can register your interest in the pledge here: Plasticity Pledge

We cannot wait to share your new - and past - recycling initiatives, and watch you forge a network of businesses and schools enthusiastic about sustainability. Make sure to watch this space for more updates about the pledge!
